Several countries are currently discussing whether they will rebuild their nuclear power stations in order to continue this type of energy production in the future. The public, with its own opinion about nuclear power stations, has an influential voice in this discussion. As a result, policy makers and nuclear scientists are interested in the public's perception of nuclear power and in what determines this perception. We therefore examined an explanatory model of the public's acceptance of nuclear power based on a telephone survey among a representative sample in Switzerland. The model included such factors as risk perception, benefit perception, affective feelings, and social trust. Moreover, we distinguished between two types of benefit perception: benefit for the climate and a secure energy supply. The model fitted very well to our data and explained acceptance very well. Acceptance was mainly influenced by perceived benefits for a secure energy supply and, to a lesser extent, both by perceived benefits for the climate and by risk perception. Affective feelings about nuclear power appeared to be a central factor in the model. Implications for communication about nuclear power stations and for further research are discussed.  相似文献

The aim of this research was to study spray drying as potential action to protect chlorophyllide from environmental conditions for shelf‐life extension and characterisation of the powders. Six formulations were prepared with 7.5 and 10 g of carrier agents [gum Arabic (GA), maltodextrin (MA) and soybean protein isolate (SPI)]/100 mL of chlorophyllide solutions. The powders were evaluated for morphological characteristics (SEM), particle size, water activity, moisture, density, hygroscopicity, cold water solubility, sorption isotherms, colour and stability, during 90 days. All the powders were highly soluble, with solubility values around 97%. A significant lower hygroscopicity was observed for GA powders, whilst the lower Xm values obtained by GAB equation fitting of the sorption isotherms was observed for the 7.5 g MA/100 mL samples. All formulations, but the 1 (7.5 g SPI/100 mL of chlorophyllide), provided excellent stability to the chlorophyllide during 90 days of storage even at room temperature.  相似文献

Wind energy represents one of the most important renewable resources. Wind energy is a clean, renewable and its benefits are considered greater than the disadvantages. However, even though wind farms represent environmentally friendly projects, they frequently generate public resistance.One of the main disadvantages of wind farm construction projects is their poor aesthetic integration into the landscape. On the other hand, landscape impact of wind farms could be minimised if the visual impact is previously evaluated.As regards with the European legislation, the procedure of environmental impact assessment study is necessary before a wind farm project could be established. In contrast, there is not an objective methodology to assess the visual impact of wind farms.The aim of this work was to develop a methodology to predict and evaluate, before its construction, the visual impact of wind farms, taking into account the visualscape from different observation points.Proposed methodology could help to determine and evaluate the best location for new wind farm projects. Moreover, this method could be used as a consulting tool for public organization and private institutions, being quick, concise and clear.  相似文献

The rapid expansion of ethanol plants across the U.S. state of Iowa has fueled debate about the burdens and benefits of local (in-state investors) versus non-local ownership of biorefineries. Central to these concerns is the extent to which non-local, absentee owners might reap the benefits of the ethanol industry at the expense of local communities. A key argument within the rural development literature is that local ownership of firms has a positive effect on the long-term well-being and sustainability of the communities in which they are situated. This literature asserts that firms operate at different scales, with local firms embedded within local supply chains and institutions, and non-local firms embedded within national and international networks and institutions. Conversely, there is a growing body of work within the alternative agrifood systems literature that cautions against the ‘local trap’; the assumption that the local scale is inherently good and therefore advantageous. Despite this broader debate, the literature on local ownership and renewable energy remains limited. This paper addresses this gap by drawing on case study research of the community effects of ethanol plant ownership structure from the perspective of community leaders. My findings suggest that differences between the structure and effects of local versus non-local ownership of firms on communities are rather more ambiguous than the literature asserts. Therefore, assumptions about the benefits of local ownership may be overstated and concepts of ‘local’ and ‘non-local’ may be inadequate for considering firm outcomes on the civic welfare and socioeconomic well-being of a community.  相似文献

Input–output analysis is a powerful tool for in-depth study of the productive structure of economic space. Moreover, the sectoral network constitutes one of the possible determinants of the innovative capacity of a territory. The use of network theory in the input–output field supposes an interesting alternative that allows structural complexity, weakness and strength to be shown. Following this viewpoint, we analyse the relative position of each sector via the structural holes concept (Burt in Structural Holes, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 1992; Social Capital: Theory and Research. Aldine de Gruyter, New York, 2001; Am J Sociol 110:349–399, 2004) to offer an approach to knowledge generation and diffusion capacity within the economic network. The theoretical background is based on the opportunities afforded due to connexion with and proximity to sectoral structure for knowledge transmission and consequently innovation capacity. This novel proposal is applied to the analysis of European and Spanish economies in 1995.  相似文献

Vinegars elaborated from white wine can be characterized by their phenolic composition. Indeed, for authenticity purpose, phenolic composition can be used to identify Sherry and Balsamic vinegars. However, the phenolic composition of red wine vinegars has scarcely been studied. Anthocyanin compounds in particular remain largely unknown. This study focuses on the analysis of anthocyanin compounds in red wine vinegar and the effect of acetification with submerged culture on such vinegars.The vinegar used in this study was produced from a young Cabernet Sauvignon wine in a laboratory-scale fermenter. Subsequent analyses of both wine and vinegar included their anthocyanin profile (by LC/MS), and their non-anthocyanin phenolic profile (by LC/DAD). In addition, wine and vinegar anthocyanin extracts were fractionated by CCC to determine the contribution of the fractions to overall antioxidant activity (AA), using ORAC, FRAP and DPPH assays.A total of 20 anthocyanin compounds were identified in the vinegar. As far as we know, this is the first time that anthocyanin-derived pigments (pyranoanthocyanins and ethyl-linked compounds) have been identified in red vinegar in such detail. Moreover, an original contribution of this study is the identification for the first time of catechyl-pyranocyanidin-3-glucoside in vinegar and wine, as well as two anthocyanin compounds not previously reported in vinegar or Cabernet Sauvignon wine: acetyl vitisin B and coumaroyl vitisin B. After the acetification process, vitisin-type and ethyl-linked compounds increased and monomeric anthocyanins, phenolic acids (ferulic acid, caffeic acid and caftaric acid) and flavan-3-ol ((+)-catechin) decreased.Although the proportion by weight of the polymeric compound fraction is similar in wine and vinegar, the AA of these polymers in vinegar is significantly greater (p < 0.05). We have also determined for the first time an approximate value of AA for malvidin-3-(6-acetyl)-glucoside isolated from vinegar.  相似文献

Grid computing generally involves the aggregation of geographically distributed resources in the context of a particular application. As such resources can exist within different administrative domains, requirements on the communication network must also be taken into account when performing meta-scheduling, migration or monitoring of jobs. Similarly, coordinating efficient interaction between different domains should also be considered when performing such meta-scheduling of jobs. A strategy to perform peer-to-peer-inspired meta-scheduling in Grids is presented. This strategy has three main goals: (1) it takes the network characteristics into account when performing meta-scheduling; (2) communication and query referral between domains is considered, so that efficient meta-scheduling can be performed; and (3) the strategy demonstrates scalability, making it suitable for many scientific applications that require resources on a large scale. Simulation results are presented that demonstrate the usefulness of this approach, and it is compared with other proposals from literature.  相似文献
